Μετά την επιτυχημένη έκθεση στην Τεχνόπολη του Δήμου Αθηναίων, η Ειδύλλια Οδός ταξιδεύει στο Μουσείο Σύγχρονης Τέχνης της Κρήτης όπου θα παραμείνει μέχρι τις 30.10.2022.
Η απόφοιτή μας Καλλιόπη Λεμού συμμετέχει στην ομαδική έκθεση με το έργο της I Am Home, μια εξερεύνηση στην πηγαία ανάγκη του ανθρώπου να ενωθεί ξανά με τις ρίζες του και να αγκαλιάσει τις εμπειρίες του, καλές ή κακές στο πέρασμα του χρόνου.
Όπως γράφει η ίδια η διεθνής καλλιτέχνις: ‘I Am Home’ explores the fundamental need to reconnect with our roots and to embrace all our past experiences, both the good ones and the bad ones, in the form of emerging embroidered heads, black abstract forms and wasps made out of steel. The notion of femininity is fused with the strong presence of embroidery in the artist’s installation, unraveling the rich history of female social roles. While stitching is considered to be handwork for women, is also seen as an act of rebelliousness, as it slowly transitioned from the private sphere into the public realm.
Women may stay silent and focused when they sew, but they were able to express their culture and political views, through iconography, style and social function. Thus, for the artist to create this artwork primarily by using embroidery pays homage to the central position of women throughout the centuries and all over the world.
